Gallbladder cancer, although rare in the United States, is most frequently found in women and individuals with Native American backgrounds.¹ It is difficult to diagnose in the early stages of the disease and is usually found during a cholecystectomy.² Overall, the 5-year survival rate for patients with gallbladder cancer can be approximately 80% when detected early and as low as 2% when detected later.² Public awareness of this disease needs to remain a priority to improve survival rates and patient quality of life.
